JTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Primary Level (Class 1 to 5)

Candidates must have passed 10+2 Intermediate / Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and should have passed or be appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed. / BTC).

Candidates with 45% marks in 10+2 and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE norms are also eligible. Apart from this, candidates with 10+2 and 50% marks appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) can also apply.

Candidates having a Bachelor’s Degree and appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education are also eligible.

Junior Level (Class 6 to 8)

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and should have passed or be appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 50% marks along with B.Ed. / L.T. / Shiksha Shastri (Regular) are eligible. Those with 45% marks in graduation and B.Ed. as per NCTE norms may also apply.

Additionally, candidates with 10+2 and 50% marks appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.El.Ed. or a 4-year B.A.Ed. / B.Sc.Ed. course are also eligible. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree and 50% marks with B.Ed. (Special Education), or a Master’s Degree with 55% marks and 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. are also eligible.
